Painted
Walls
This is a site famous in the BVI and beyond, a series of box canyons
located at the end of a rocky ridge which extends out from Dead Chest.
100 foot visibility is not unusual on this site, and the walls of
the canyons are covered in sponges which turn the dive site into a
multicolored extravaganza. A flashlight is essential on this dive
to bring out all the amazing colors of the sponges. In addition to
the multicolored walls there are large pillar coral formations and
tiny marine micro-systems amongst the rounded rocks on the floor of
the canyons. The maximum depth is 40' so there is plenty of time to
explore this site.
Blonde Rocks
This is a famous dive which offers incredibly abundant fish life,
from long nose butterfly fish and turtles to schools of chub, jacks,
cobia and the odd shark. Blonde Rock, which is located between Dead
Chest and Salt Island, comprises of two pinnacles which rise from
a depth of about 60 feet to within 15 feet of the surface. The twin
fire encrusted peaks are surrounded by an amazing system of tunnels,
ledges, canyons and undercuts.
